I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life.
Thanks for praying with us.
For the next few weeks, we'll keep moving through Psalm 119. This week showed us one of the ways that the law (and Jesus, its fulfillment) acts as a companion during times when God seems silent or absent. Since the law endures even past the "perfections" of this world, it can certainly be a companion in the middle of imperfect circumstances. It's a rock on which to plant an anchor, and a source of hope in trouble.
Here are this week's requests and praises:
New Office - We have a new home! Last week, we moved all our things out of the old office into the new space, thanks to an awesome team of volunteers. There's still lots to do: construction isn't quite complete in our Event Room, and we seek funds to turn it into a place where we can hospitably serve our community. Praise God for his provision of a location, and pray for his help as we work to make it as awesome as possible.
Peter's Birthday - Today is Peter's birthday! We're glad he's around.
Academy Alumni Board - We've assembled a team of alumni to lead up our efforts in building a valuable network for everyone who has attended our summer camps. Pray for them as we head toward our first full-group meeting!
Family Ministry - Pray for Veronica and the Academy Families Advisory Team as they move closer to creating the year-round services that we will launch at Summer Camp this year!
Summer Camp Enrollment - Pray that God would bring the right students and leaders to The Academy 2016!
Holiness Training - Pray for Peter and Chad as they develop Wheatstone's next new training event this spring.
Gathering - Next Saturday, Wheatstone will host local youth leaders for a free one-day retreat. Pray that God would use us to refresh his servants!
Sponsorship Campaign - We want to reach more families in lower-income communities than ever before, and that will require a bigger Sponsorship Fund than ever before. Pray that God would move many, many people to help extend the gift of Wheatstone to youth who otherwise couldn't experience it.
Office Improvements Fundraising - We have the space, but we want to invest in it to ensure that we can serve our community well. Please pray that God would move donors to offer the funds we need to install new lighting, buy new furniture, and generally make the space into exactly what our community needs.
Today we studied this Psalm to help us pray:
Your hands have made and fashioned me;
give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.
Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice,
because I have hoped in your word.
I know, O LORD, that your rules are righteous,
and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
Let your steadfast love comfort me
according to your promise to your servant.
Let your mercy come to me, that I may live;
for your law is my delight.
Let the insolent be put to shame,
because they have wronged me with falsehood;
as for me, I will meditate on your precepts.
Let those who fear you turn to me,
that they may know your testimonies.
May my heart be blameless in your statutes,
that I may not be put to shame!
My soul longs for your salvation;
I hope in your word.
My eyes long for your promise;
I ask, “When will you comfort me?”
For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke,
yet I have not forgotten your statutes.
How long must your servant endure?
When will you judge those who persecute me?
The insolent have dug pitfalls for me;
they do not live according to your law.
All your commandments are sure;
they persecute me with falsehood; help me!
They have almost made an end of me on earth,
but I have not forsaken your precepts.
In your steadfast love give me life,
that I may keep the testimonies of your mouth.
Forever, O LORD, your word
is firmly fixed in the heavens.
Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
By your appointment they stand this day,
for all things are your servants.
If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have given me life.
I am yours; save me,
for I have sought your precepts.
The wicked lie in wait to destroy me,
but I consider your testimonies.
I have seen a limit to all perfection,
but your commandment is exceedingly broad
