"In your light we see light"
Thanks for praying with us.
After these last few, full weeks it was wonderful to return to the Psalms. Today, we spent time discussing Psalm 36, thinking about the two ways it presents. On the one hand, the wicked are caught by their own inability to love good and reject evil; their transgression turns against them, poisoning the heart.
On the other hand, the righteous turn to God's steadfast love, his righteousness, faithfulness, and trustworthy judgments. The righteous run to the shelter of God's love, drinking deeply and delighting in him. This is the kind of work we want to do: embracing the way of righteousness by turning to God's unending, steadfast love.
Here are this week's requests and praises:
Sponsorships - Praise God with us--we were able to admit every student who had financial need this year. Thank you for your generosity and your faithfulness to pray!
Academy Alumni and Academy Families - Continue to pray for Veronica as she prepares to announce our new offerings for alumni and their parents, launching this week!
Continued ministry - Continue to pray for the students and leaders who attended this year's Summer camp. It was an incredible week, filled with rich stories. We can't wait to share them with you soon.
Peter's Computer - The saga continues! We were able to recover all the data from Peter's ruined laptop, but we're now having difficulties with the hard drive itself. Please pray that this would resolve quickly so that we can access those files!
Benefactors - We'd like to secure two more donations of $10,000 or more this month. Pray for God's blessing and favor with big givers!
Fall Scheduling - We're starting our full slate of Fall events this week, with two Discussion for Transformation events. Pray for our event staff and for fruitful ministry training for these two communities.
This week's Psalm
Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart;
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For it flatters him in his own eyes
Concerning the discovery of his iniquity and the hatred of it.
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
He plans wickedness upon his bed;
He sets himself on a path that is not good;
He does not despise evil.
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
Your judgments are like a great deep.
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;
And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come upon me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the doers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been thrust down and cannot rise.
