"It is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another."
Thanks for praying with us.
In Psalm 75, the psalmist and God speak in chorus. The psalmist addresses God, God speaks about his justice, and the psalmist leads us to reflect on its implications in our lives and societies. The psalm concludes with God's resounding voice: "All the horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up." The end of our efforts is fixed and good, and we have God himself as our assurance.
Here are this week's requests and praises:
Student Enrollment - Pray that God would bring 25 more students to experience summer camp.
Leader Enrollment - Pray that God would bring 12 more leaders. This is our top request for the week. The Leaders Track is our best offering for pastors, teachers, and other leaders of youth, yet only a few leaders experience it each year. We want to see God's blessing on this endeavor.
Academy Alumni and Academy Families - Pray for Veronica as she prepares to announce our new offerings for alumni and their parents at this year's Closing Ceremony.
Sponsorship Campaign - Pray that God would move new people to become Sponsors quickly. We still have a small number of people waiting to receive Sponsorships, and we expect more.
Benefactors - We'd like to secure two new donations of $10,000 or more before the end of July. These kinds of gifts usually come in the fall and winter, but earlier gifts would make our whole year much more stable, given how tricky cashflow can be after our biggest expense: summer camp.
Givers Event - Our very first quarterly event for Wheatstone Givers will be this Saturday, June 25th. We'll be leading them through an experience of selections from Teach Them to Pray. Pray that they would be blessed by this "taste of Wheatstone," and encouraged in their support.
From Duty to Discipleship - We have an info session coming up on June 30. Pray that God would bring the right church and school leaders to get a taste of our newest training.
Trainings Marketing - Pray for Chad as he comes up with a new strategy for marketing Discussion for Transformation, Teach Them to Pray, and From Duty to Discipleship in the fall. It's essential that these trainings continue to grow, both for the full execution of our mission and for the stability of our business plan.
This week's Psalm
We give thanks to you, O God;
we give thanks, for your name is near.
We recount your wondrous deeds.
“At the set time that I appoint
I will judge with equity.
When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants,
it is I who keep steady its pillars." Selah
I say to the boastful, "Do not boast,"
and to the wicked, "Do not lift up your horn;
do not lift up your horn on high,
or speak with haughty neck."
For not from the east or from the west
and not from the wilderness comes lifting up,
but it is God who executes judgment,
putting down one and lifting up another.
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup
with foaming wine, well mixed,
and he pours out from it,
and all the wicked of the earth
shall drain it down to the dregs.
But I will declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
"All the horns of the wicked I will cut off,
but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up."
