"Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength! We will sing and praise your power."
We've arrived at Psalm 21, a royal psalm. It has two mirrored sections. In the first, we hear how God strengthens and glorifies his king. In the second, we hear how God saves and supports his king in the face of his enemies. The psalm's mirroring has some incredible thematic precision, as when, "He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever," in the first section mirrors, "You will destroy their descendants from the earth, and their offspring from among the children of man," in the second.
In the first verse we just quoted, the king is described as having "length of days forever and ever." It might just be a bit of royal hyperbole, since all the Old Testament kings died, just like anyone. But we at Wheatstone were inclined to think that it signals that the psalmist is considering not David or Solomon or any other Old Testament king, but the Messiah. When we read this psalm, we think of Jesus. It led us to pray that God would quickly send his Son in power and glory to rule and save the world.
- Are you eager for Jesus' return?
- How could you learn to join the psalmist in celebrating God's conquest and destruction of the wicked?

Wheatstone's requests and praises:
THE ACADEMY CAMPS
Sponsorship Campaign - We would still like to raise about $8000 in sponsorships for students with financial need before the end of enrollment season. Please pray that God provides everything we need to help students with financial need attend summer camp!
Summer Camp Registration - Pray that God would fill the camp with students and leaders who need its ministry, and tell your friends! Please pray specifically that God would send more Leaders to attend the Leaders Track.
Peter and Lisa - We continue to run Wheatstone while understaffed. Pray for energy, health, and wisdom for the two full-timers as we work hard to stay faithful to our mission and fruitful in our goals.
Website Overhaul - Our current website is rapidly becoming obsolete due to old technology, and we're working to transfer to a new base of code. Pray that we'd get the update done in time for summer camp!
Rebrand - As a side effect of the website change, we're tweaking our branding for better mobile compatibility and a clearer representation of our current structure. Pray that we'd be able to execute all the changes, even with our smaller staff.
CHRISTIAN ADULTHOOD TRAININGS
Christian Adulthood 101 - Pray that God would fill our first Public event for our newest Training, Christian Adulthood 101, with youth pastors and leaders who need to hear the message. We'd like to see 12-20 people at our June 10th event.
New 2017 Benefactors - We need to find additional benefactors this year in order to grow. Pray that God would bring a few friends along who want to make Christian adulthood ministry part of their legacy.
New 2017 Monthly Givers - Pray that God would bring a new community of friends to give a little bit to Wheatstone every month, forming a more secure foundation for Christian adulthood ministry.
This Week's Psalm
O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
You have given him his heart's desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
For you meet him with rich blessings;
you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.
He asked life of you; you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.
His glory is great through your salvation;
splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
For you make him most blessed forever;
you make him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.
Your hand will find out all your enemies;
your right hand will find out those who hate you.
You will make them as a blazing oven
when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and fire will consume them.
You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
Though they plan evil against you,
though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.
For you will put them to flight;
you will aim at their faces with your bows.
Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power.
