Within [Zion's] citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.
Thanks for praying with us.
Each office staff member received a joyful weekend after a very full work week, so it was good to think about Zion together this morning. Our hope in the New Jerusalem is helpful and joyful. And when work is meaningful and God's gifts are obvious, like today, it seems particularly close at hand.
Of course, it's always true that the kingdom of God is at hand, that God is our fortress, and that he guides us in his way. Mornings like this one, in the context of eternity, are normal, not abnormal. Today, we get to see reality more clearly. As we reflect on his providence, we say, "This is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever."
Here are this week's requests and praises:
Discussion Training at Saddleback - We led two days of discussion training for High School Ministry at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest last week, and it was awesome. By partnering with Saddleback, we think we can reach many, many more churches in the months ahead. We're looking forward to building on this new, influential relationship. Praise God for his help, and pray for what's next!
Teach Them to Pray event at Alhambra True Light Presbyterian Church - We returned to ATLPC this Saturday for our first eight-hour Teach Them to Pray event, and we feel confident that this version of TTP is our best training event so far. Praise God for his help on Saturday, and pray that he would bless the ATLPC leadership as they begin applying what they learned.
Holiness Training - Pray for Peter and Chad as they develop Wheatstone's next new training event this spring.
New Office - We believe that we've found the space that God has prepared for Wheatstone! It's nearby in Fullerton, it's perfect for both staff growth and event hosting, it's easily accessible even for people with physical needs, it's strategically-located for out-of-town alumni, and more. Please pray that we can finalize the contract quickly, and that God would confirm this choice by providing the funds we seek to make it a truly beautiful, functional, welcoming event space.
Summer Camp Early Enrollment - This is the most important registration season of our year. Please pray that God would bring 60 people to register by the end of March!
Summer Camp Hiring - We opened hiring for this summer's camp. Pray that God would bring the right applicants, and that we'd have wisdom to discern who they are throughout the hiring process.
Benefactors and Monthly Givers - Pray for many new committed friends in 2016. We can't grow without an expanded base of benefactor and monthly giver support!
Sponsorship Campaign - We want to reach more families in lower-income communities than ever before, and that will require a bigger Sponsorship Fund than ever before. Pray that God would move many, many people to help extend the gift of Wheatstone to youth who otherwise couldn't experience it.
Advancement Materials - We're working on a new round of Advancement materials for 2016: brochures, info packets, web pages, etc. Pray that the creation process would be speedy and that our efforts to communicate clearly and beautifully would be rewarded.
Office Fundraising - We want to make an incredibly professional space in which to host prayer meetings, lectures, art shows, concerts, and more. Pray for God's blessing as we seek the gifts we need to make that vision a reality.
Today we studied this Psalm to help us pray:
Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God!
His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God
has made himself known as a fortress.
For behold, the kings assembled;
they came on together.
As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
they were in panic; they took to flight.
Trembling took hold of them there,
anguish as of a woman in labor.
By the east wind you shattered
the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, so have we seen
in the city of the LORD of hosts,
in the city of our God,
which God will establish forever. Selah
We have thought on your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
As your name, O God,
so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
Let Mount Zion be glad!
Let the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments!
Walk about Zion, go around her,
number her towers,
consider well her ramparts,
go through her citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
He will guide us forever.
